Letter to My Readers

Recently I had a conversation with one of the mentor volunteers in our Fortify Mentor Program that went something like this:

Her: “Hey, you remember that woman I told you about, Stacy? She’s 41 with four small kiddos? Just a heads up, you might see her submission come through for a mentor, she just found out her biopsy is positive.”

Me: “Aw crud, I was hoping it was a false alarm.”

Her: “I know, but it wasn’t, now she’s in wait mode, which we all know is the worst part. I told her I’m happy to mentor her through the process and she seemed relieved to have the support, but I wanted to give you a heads up.”

These are the conversations that routinely take place within Faith Through Fire. While we hate when another woman gets the devastating news that she has cancer, it’s an honor for us to extend comfort and encouragement throughout the treatment process. I desire to do everything in my power to equip you to handle your breast cancer journey the best you can which is why I wrote the book Fear Less.

Our mentor program is there to provide emotional support in real-time, and this book is an extension of that support. Fear Less is another tool to add to your arsenal to help you use the experience of breast cancer to propel you forward rather than hold you back. Each short chapter (there are only 5) will validate a feeling you may have regarding your diagnosis and provide an insight and action you probably haven’t considered. Each chapter ends with a few questions you can ask yourself to help you process your feelings and provide a framework to help you get better rather than bitter.

Fear Less is an excellent book for yourself or someone you know who has been diagnosed with a serious illness- the concepts in this book are not restricted to breast cancer but are universal. Anytime this book is purchased, the proceeds go back to Faith Through Fire and helping newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.

I’d love to get your thoughts, so after you read the book, reach out and let me know what you think!
