How the Vision for the House of Hope was born

How the Vision for the House of Hope was born

Sometimes you need rest to summit the next mountain.

It is not unusual during the cancer journey to hit a wall, a moment where you feel you just can’t do it anymore. We encourage women through this moment with our peer mentorship program but what if we could do more?

What if we could harness the power of nature to provide a retreat that lowers stress hormones, blood pressure, reduces nervous system arousal, improve immune system function, reduces anxiety, and improves mood and self-esteem?

How it helps.

A growing body of research shows exposure to the natural world has a beneficial impact on health, reducing stress and promoting healing. In fact, a study of 20,000 people, showed individuals who spent two hours a week in green spaces were substantially more likely to report good health and psychological well-being than those who don’t. The effects were the same regardless of occupation, ethnic group, financial means, and those with chronic illnesses or disabilities.

Why it’s important.

Faith Through Fire holds space to heal emotionally from the trauma of breast cancer. The Faith Through Fire “House of Hope” is another tool you can use after a breast cancer diagnosis so you can delight in life again and positively impact future generations.
